I grew up loving animals. As a young girl I spent my days carrying around my cats and following our cows and pigs through the field. Though I started my college career in a different field, computer science, of all things, I eventually ended up on the path to veterinary school. Even after being accepted, I was still unsure I wanted to go to school for that long. It wasn't until my second summer of vet school that I realized I was right where I was destined to be. That summer I worked at a veterinary clinic in Fayetteville, TN with a large animal veterinarian. I had worked on the farm all my life, but had never worked with a large animal vet before. I absolutely loved it and eagerly continued on the road toward my calling, a large animal veterinarian. After working as a mixed animal veterinarian for several years, I started Middle TN Vet Service, a predominantly large animal clinic. Ten years in as a business owner/veterinarian, I realized I had lost touch with the animals. During a strange, intriguing, and somewhat difficult time in my career, I was reconnected with the animals I love and the people that own them. After dealing with a couple of heart wrenching euthanasias, I was led to the Bible verse Job 12:7. I believe there is much to be learned from our animal friends and that our Creator cares for them as much as He does us. Animals are a gift from God that we are entrusted with while here on this Earth. From these beliefs sprouted my blog. I hope you enjoy it and learn as much from the animals as I do. Also, learn how to care for the animals you have been entrusted with.
